...Those Who Can't, Teach
With the Holidays rapidly approaching, most photographers are in a tizzy trying to get it all done, knowing all to well that after the feast the famine will start. Every year it's the same roller coaster ride, storing acorns for two thirds of the year to find them during winter. Unfortunately the same monthly bills have no problem making it through the cold and snow to my mailbox.
So what do we do when faced with a situation where you're unable to work in the traditional sense. I am faced with such a situation this year having just had a fairly extensive shoulder surgery. So I've been brain storming on ways to keep from starving while not being able to lift a camera. The old saying goes, "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." So teach I will do.
For those brave enough to spend a day in the cold, I will be offering a full-day "Winter Trash the Dress" seminar. This will be a great way to build or expand your portfolio to offer a unique and creatively satisfying type of photography to your clients. We will have models willing to get a little cold while we explore the subtleties of light during winter, using natural light, reflectors, video light and the Pocket Wizard miniFlex and TT1 set. The Finger Lakes Section is a section of the Professional Photographers' Society of New York State, Inc. (PPSNYS) which is an affiliate of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
