If You Tell Them, They Will Come
Each month in our newsletter there is a section from Herb Jones saying...
"If everyone took the time to personally invite one member..."
Its the obligation of everyone in the organization to work on membership!
Let's make it happen !
With an exciting program on tap for this month on senior portraiture, make it a priority to round up someone who you think would benefit from this program and bring them to our meeting. Bring an employee, an assistant or someone you've interned in the past. If you can't think of anyone in that respect, bring a member you haven't seen in a while.
OK, so now we've just increased our membership, what can we do to keep them present and involved. Have a new idea on ways to keep the meetings exciting? Bring your idea to the meeting or post it on the FLPPSNY Yahoo group. We are constantly reevaluating our businesses to improve and keep fresh for our clients. We should be doing the same with our organization for the same reasons. I look forward to seeing all the new faces on June 20.

Message from the Section Chairperson
Finger Lakes Section meeting will be held on 6/20/07 at Nonna's Trattoria.
Business meeting starts at 2:00 I will keep it short so that we can devote as much time as possible to out program.
Program on SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHY will start at 3:00. Dinner will follow the program.
Speakers will be Roy Newman and Tom Martin (www.tommartinstudio.com) from the SNAPP Section. Roy and Tom will be sharing their methods of senior photography. They will take us through the pre session. What they look for. What is the object of the sitting, what goals to reach for in the session. What shapes and influences this goal. What do you want to attain. We will then be taken through a photo session to see how they capture the emotion from models. We will have live models. Then they will cover how to approach sales.
Roy feels that we need to get "photography back into photography". If you have heard them before come and hear their new program. If they are new to you, attend, learn, and sharpen your photographic skills.
This will be a great opportunity for all of us to come away with something that will add to our photographic skills and business approach.
See you all on the 20th.

Message from the 2nd Vice President, FLPPSNY
As most of you know, for the last 5-6 years I have been concentrating on the Adobe/Corel Painting method for photographic images. I have studied and assisted under the best, Helen Yancy for a week at last years workshop and I have all of her tutorial CD's, along with other painting CD tutorials.
Being able to enhance an image to make it look as if it is a Fine Art Painting has been a passion of mine for years, and now it is a reality. I have been offering this painting technique to my clients for 2 years now, and have added an average of $250 per session.
There are three different styles that can to offered to your clients; watercolor, oil or crayon/pastel renderings which can be offered in either color or black&white. They all have their own look and appeal.
If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 585-872-5489 or email me at hyasses@rochester.rr.com.

Bonnie was disappointed that a Rochester Wedding Planning guide suggested that brides save money by having "their Uncle" shoot their wedding with his digital camera. Bonnie mentioned our need to educate the public as to the difference between professional photography and that of part timers. It was also mentioned that members should stop advertising in that magazine.
Associate membership status was discussed and Vince announced that State Council was considering it as some sections were not requiring their members to join State.
