Message from the Editor
Giving Back
So much emphasis is put on our photography businesses to grow and be more profitable that sometimes it's nice to step out of the business man mode and give from the heart. For the month of May, my studio is doing free sessions for cancer survivors, with 15% of any orders from the session being donated to the Relay for Life being held in Canandaigua in June. Having lost my father to cancer in 2001, I'm always looking for ways to kick cancers butt.
I like doing charitable work to be able to touch someone else's heart who is in need, not to expect anything in return, but to strengthen them to be able to pay it forward.
My brother Rich did such a thing out in Massachusetts a few weeks ago with our New England studio by covering a wedding for free for a bride who had to move her wedding way ahead to have her terminally ill father be with her. She didn't have enough time to save what she needed for the wedding, so Rich stepped up to the plate for her. You can read the full story on our New England blog at http://cheslerphotographynewengland.blogspot.com.
As photographers, we have the ability to use our gift in incredible ways. We can use it to not only inspire, but to strengthen and heal those in need around us.
