April Program - Event Photography
Debra Woodard
PPA Certified, Master Photographer
Deb has been in business since 1982. Her photography career peaked in 1992
photographing 40 weddings and over 100 seniors that year.
Besides weddings and seniors she has always photographed events such as little
leagues, soccer leagues, Vince Lombardi football teams, hockey leagues, dance
schools and nursery schools.
Realizing that the event photography was the staple of her business she stopped
advertising for seniors and weddings and concentrated on this part of the business.
“The reason I like this best is I don’t have to reinvent my income every year.
I know what I am scheduled to do and approximately what I will make.”
This is a great source of steady income whether you are growing your business or
working on retirement as Deb is. In the past year she has also done a full school of 2500 and several church
directories. These where done in partnership with other studios.
Deb will discuss how she got started, how she sets shoots up and how she keeps
her customer base.

Conference Wrap Up
The anticipation of the annual state conference for PPSNYS typically begins at the conference the year before, when the date and location of the next one is announced. Every year it amazes how fast the time goes between each conference. This years conference at the Desmond Hotel in Albany was a huge success under the watchful eye of the Finger Lakes own Craig Hutchins who is wrapping up his term as the President of PPSNYS. This year also marked an historic event as the first annual Northeast Regional Conference in conjunction with the Professional Photographer's Association of New Jersey. Here are the plans for next years conference which will be held in New Jersey.
