*** Note the new later meeting time ***
which, hopefully, will make it more convenient for everyone to attend.

Business meeting will start at 5:00PM
Dinner starts at 5:30 PM
Program starts at 7:00 PM

As always, there is no charge for members to attend this meeting and dinner of your choice will be selected from the delicious menu at Abigail's. The room is ours to use, but please plan to share dinner with your fellow photographers as appreciation to the restaurant.

If you have your print case ready for State, Craig and Linda have offered to take them for us. If you need titles, we thought it might be helpful to have a "title party". Make sure you are there early to get input from everyone. For Print Rules and forms go to www.ppsnys.com and you will see them on the main page. Bring everything filled out, along with your check, but leave the title blank if you'd like help.

This month's program will be presented by Dana Nordland, CPP. from Frewsburg, NY and member of SNAPP/PPSNYS. This program is one you won't want to miss!!

Dana Nordlund, CPP

Today's bride has no extra time. Today's mom thinking about a family portrait, doesn't have time to think about it. Today's senior, they started getting bombarded with "the best deals" while they were finishing up 11th grade. So how does a hard working professional photographer sell their art form above and beyond the soccer mom's with a Rebel and WallyWorld prints? EMOTION. Your website has the power to slow down that faster than a speeding bullet bride. She needs to stop, look and listen. My presentation will make you aware of a tremendous tool, developed by a photographer for photographers. It is very user friendly and you do not need to spend late hours reading manuals. ShowItFast will rock you.

Dana Nordlund, CPP is currently working on his Photographic Craftsman. After spending 20 some years working for labs and shooting for others, he started up dana nordlund photography in 2002. Dana is finishing his third term as President for SNAPP. In 2005, he became a Certified Professional Photographer. When asked about why he is a photographer, Dana responds, "I have seen some amazing moments and images through the lens, but the greatest thing that I have seen is the growth of our little boy. When I look at the images of him as a baby, I am thankful that I was able to stop time for that instant so we can hang on to that memory. For that reason alone, I am a photographer.

Message from the Editor

Opening New Doors

For the last year or so, I have been trying to establish a presence in markets outside of my tradtional area to expand my wedding season throughout the year. Doing this makes me take a look at my business from a different perspective, not so different from a brand new business just starting out. All of the success and networks I have established in my area don't exist in a new market, forcing me to start from scratch. This new perspective allows me step back and see if I would take my business on the same approach as my local one. It's like the age old question, "If I had to do it all over again, what would I do differently?" Fortunately, there is not a whole lot I would change, but it's a good tool to use periodically to re-evaluate the business and see if it's going where I want it to. Whether I am traveling in uncharted territory to open new doors, or letting the business develop were it is, I will challenge myself to see things from a different perspective from now on to stay on top of my game. Are you up for the challenge with your own business?

- Steve
